Is Your Genius Falling on Deaf Ears?
Questioning the value of what you're offering? Tired of your wisdom not being seen or heard? Your innate gifts just need a receptive field in which to land.
How many times have you been certain that someone could greatly benefit by something you have to share ~ an impactful book, a favorite food, or your own deep wisdom ~ only to find that they don’t really want it or get it. Or worse ~ they actively reject what you’ve offered in your sincere desire to help?
And how many times have you questioned the value of your gifts ~ or yourself ~ frustrated that what you’re putting out there is not being seen, heard or valued?
I have certainly moved through many cycles of this, and it’s been coming up as a theme lately within my circle of wisdom weavers and clients.
Falling on deaf ears
In January 2007, a violinist played for 45 minutes in a New York subway during the morning rush hour. A handful of people stopped, a few clapped, and the violinist raised about $30 in tips.
No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the finest musicians in the world. Two days before he played in the subway, Joshua Bell had sold out a Boston theater where the seats averaged about $100.
That morning in the subway, Joshua played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin that was nearly 300 years old and worth $3.5 million.
This world-class musician was offering a rare and highly valuable gift ~ to an audience that was not receptive to it.
“For those with eyes to see, and ears to hear….”
And, I would add, in an environment and timing in which it can be seen and heard….
Does the key fit?
Let’s geek out for a moment and look at something called cellular receptors.
This is the way in which cells, like the ones in the human body, interact with and receive signals from substances they need to sustain themselves and to carry out their specific function.
A receptor is a protein molecule in a cell or on the surface of a cell where a substance can bind, causing a change in the activity of that particular cell.
The receptor is like a lock, while the substance binding to it is the key. So, only substances that fit the lock can bind to a particular receptor.
Receptors are very specialized, and there are hundreds of different types of receptors. If a cell doesn’t have the correct receptor for a particular substance, then that substance will just pass on by and won’t affect the cell.
Your genius needs somewhere to land.
Your essential genius ~ the magic elixir that you are uniquely designed to bring to the world ~ is the key that can bring about meaningful change in others.
I call your genius essential because it is both sourced in the essence of you ~ and essential, needed for the healthy functioning of others in our collective ecosystem.
But not all others ~ only those who are receptive to it.
When a person is at a point in their unique journey when they most need or desire the specific medicine you offer, their system will turn on their receptors. Their lock will be open to receive your key.
Can you see the outstanding efficiency in this system?
You don’t need to exhaust yourself, being continually disappointed, trying to share your gifts where they are not being asked for.
By the same token, those who are not really ready to receive your genius will not be affected by it in a way that could disrupt their own timing and functioning.
They simply don’t have the active cell receptors for the substance you are offering. Their receptors to your gifts are not turned on at this time ~ and perhaps never will be.
And that is more than okay ~ it is by design, for the optimal functioning of the entire collective and every member in it.
The universe is a magnificent matchmaker!
The synergistic ecosystem of our world is brilliantly designed to connect needs with gifts.
Here’s the really cool thing: Keys are not created unless there is a lock to fit them.
You can be sure that your genius ~ the innate gifts that you are burning to share ~ are there because someone or something has put out a call for them.
Receptor sites have been turned on that are in need of your specific magic elixir to nourish them and to help them fulfill their unique mission.
When your wisdom or gifts are falling on deaf ears, it can be easy to question the value of what you are bringing.
But what if you could simply know that your gifts have value, that they wouldn’t exist otherwise, and that it’s just a matter of connecting with the receptive field that is asking for them to be delivered?
The magnetic field of resonance
So how do you connect with the people or places who are calling for your genius?
You look {more accurately, feel} for resonance ~ the phenomenon that happens when matching frequencies are in harmony and amplify each other. In other words, that special feeling you experience when your gifts meet a receptive field, when a key finds its lock and vice versa.
Despite what we’ve been conditioned to believe, you do not need to work really hard, running around trying to fit your key into a bunch of locks.
When a receptor has been activated, it takes on a specific geometry that sends out a particular frequency. This frequency puts out a call, drawing to itself the corresponding geometry that fits it.
The more clearly the lock understands and communicates its need or desire, and the more clearly the key understands and communicates the specific gifts it has to offer, the more readily they will be magnetized to each other.
And when this happens, you will feel the resonance ~ a sense of rightness in the fit, and an effortless flow between you and the other person, people or place.

The dance of the lock and key are happening at an energetic level.
And energy doesn’t lie.
That’s why the heroic journey to come to know your most authentic self ~ and to understand, appreciate and embody your unique genius ~ is so vital.
If you’re moving through the world trying to be something or someone you’re not, taking on the shape of a key that is not really yours ~ or looking for a key that doesn’t really fit in your lock ~ the whole process becomes distorted and cloudy.
Greater clarity leads to greater connection, resonance, magnetism. This is the space where you experience life flowing with tremendous grace, ease and synchronicity ~ as it is naturally designed to be!
