Who Are Your Vision Keepers?
Regenerative organizations need a trusted circle of stewards tending the vision
Every venture starts with a vision, and a founder who takes the first tangible step to bring it to life.
Others are then drawn into the initiative who resonate with the vision and have something to contribute in support of its fulfillment.
But a truly regenerative business or community includes a group of individuals who are critical to the thriving of the initiative.
As your organization takes root and unfolds, a core team of stewards naturally emerges.
These are the torchbearers of your vision.
So, who are these stewards?
These are the people who contribute not just skills but embody the mission.
Deeply aligned with your vision and values, they not only talk the talk. They walk it ~ living and breathing its essence in every interaction.
Through their participation, they're not just serving your mission; they're fulfilling their own too.
There is a deep resonance, connection and feeling of trust ~ with you, and also between the stewards.
How do you find them?
When it’s time to form your inner circle, you do not need to look far.
Stewards find you … through resonance.
They don’t arrive with an agenda, often drawn inexplicably by synchronicities, and easily weave into the fabric of your initiative.
In identifying your vision keepers, consider this:
Who are the people you naturally and continually gravitate towards?
Who do you turn to for advice or sharing of ideas?
Do you trust them, feeling confident in both their competency and integrity?
Do your interactions with them leave you feeling nourished and inspired, or is there something that always seems to rub you the wrong way?
This is not about finding people who think just like you and constantly agree with you. Stewards challenge you, but in a way that feels serving to you and your vision.
Why stewards are vital
Your role as the founder is to continually get clear, delineating the vision's boundaries and communicating it to all stakeholders.
In getting to that clarity, though, you require a lot of input from diverse perspectives. Being so close to the vision, you also need those you trust to reflect back to you what you cannot see yourself.
Enter the stewards - the “untouchables.” This inner circle of advisors and contributors are so aligned with the vision that they will not be corrupted by adverse influences.
Their motives are not clouded by self-interest or hidden agendas. Their guidance is rooted in the thriving of the initiative and those impacted by it.
You can palpably feel the ethos of the mission alive in these individuals. As they live and breathe the vision, they provide a powerful example of what’s possible.
And they serve as ambassadors, carrying the core essence of the initiative outside the organization.
Over time, you and your stewards form a tight-knit team, operating in a coherent field of mutual trust and respect that radiates out through the entire organization.
This core team is vital in helping to clarify and guide the vision into its greatest expression as you navigate the key challenges and decisions that shape its evolution.
With an inner circle of stewards, your vision becomes a living force ~ transforming your organization with an energy that ripples out and creates truly meaningful, regenerative impact.
